riding lessons
Before riding, all members must submit the required forms to Dr. Veronica Ent in the Education Department (Ground Floor of Prep Hall). English riding lessons are typically scheduled on Fridays between 1:00 and 5:00pm. Lessons are schedule in one hour intervals and grouped according to experience level and student schedule. Riders arrive to lessons early to allow time for grooming, tacking, and warm up and cool down procedures. Depending on ability, riders are taught all aspects of horsemanship including: grooming, tacking, handling, proper equitation, all three gaits (walk, trot, canter), jumping, trail riding, safety precautions, barn maintenance, and tack care. Riders do not ride without an instructor present at all times. As riders become more advanced, they are permitted to handle, groom, and mount their assigned horses independently.
